U7 & U9 Program Information
With the changes Softball Canada has made to the age divisions for this season, we have made some changes to our U7 and U9 programs. Both programs will introduce children to the game of Fastball through a variety of fun and exciting drills to allow players to develop their skills but will also introduce game situations at a younger level! FSA recognizes at the U7 level, some players are happy with the one night per week but some players are ready for more. We are pleased to be able to offer a one night per week or two night per week option at this level.
Fastball St. Albert is looking for a new coordinator for our younger athletes. This season would be a great opportunity for an interested volunteer to become familiar with the programs with the support of our existing coordinator! Please email secretary@fastballstalbert.ca if you can help.
Registration for U7 and U9 will open on January 16.
U7 - Athletes born in 2015 & 2016
- May be mixed female/male
- Cost to Register - $75
- Practice/Game Days - Families can choose from Tuesday evenings, Thursday evenings or both Tuesday/Thursday evenings. Practices/Games will be in St Albert only 6:00 - 7:30 pm (approx.)
- Please note, players may only attend the evening chosen at the time of registration.
- Equipment Needed - Running shoes and a glove
- This division will introduce children aged 5 and 6 to the game of Fastball through a variety of fun and exciting drills and activities that will allow them to develop their skills in throwing, fielding, running and hitting. This program, while focusing on age appropriate fundamentals, is designed to allow your child to progress at their own rate in a fun and positive environment, and to give them the confidence to succeed in the next level, U9. Players will get to experience the thrill of getting their first hits, outs and home runs in exciting gameplay. The season runs from May through June and will be capped off with a fun jamboree with a skills competition and prizes.

U9 - Athletes born in 2013 & 2014
- May be mixed female/male
- Cost to Register - $150
- Game Days - Monday/Wednesday primarily in St Albert 6:00 - 7:30 pm (approx.)
- Equipment Needed - Running shoes, glove, batting helmet, fielding mask and pelvic protection
- This is an introductory level of softball with modified rules and mixed teams. U9 is a hybrid of player pitch pitch where batters will see live pitches and pitchers will begin to lean how to throw a fastpitch. All players bat and will play a field position as well as be given the opportunity to try pitching and catching. The season runs from May through June and will be capped off with a fun jamboree with a skills competition and prizes.
